Thank you for sharing these pictures. I was there in Riyadh from Apr 1982 - April 1983, and believe it or not many of these pictures are just as I remember them. I visited the fort at Al Karj and saw the camel races. I actually think I remember some of the faces of the locals you took pictures of. I ate goat with a Saudi who invited me to dinner. I also saw Heet Cave and got stopped by a Saudi policeman who was wondering what I was doing there on a work day (it was actually the 4th of July a holiday we celebrate in America, so I didn’t have to work that day). To my chagrin, I also saw a double header and was moved to the front of the circle. The people there are great and very friendly. The ability also to meet people from all over the world (all nationalities) who came to Saudi to work, was a delight I never expected. I have many fond memories from my year at Riyadh.
